Periodic Testing and Inspection

Every electrical installation deteriorates with use and age. It is important for the person responsible for the general maintenance of the installation to be sure that the safety of the users is not put at risk and that the installation be in a safe and serviceable condition. It is therefore necessary for the installation to be periodically inspected and tested and a report on its condition be obtained.

The IEE wiring Regulations 16th edition (BS 7671) recommends that electrical installations be periodically tested and inspected at regular intervals.

All tests and inspection will be carried out in accordance with of the IEE wiring regulations 16th edition (BS7671) in order to detect as far as reasonably practical any factors that may impair the safety of an electrical installation. The aspects covered will include the following: -

  • Safety of persons against the effects of electric shock and burns
  • Protection against damage to property by fire and heat from an installation defect
  • Confirm that the installation is not damaged or deteriorated so as to impair safety
  • Identify any non-compliance with BS7671
